Engaging Your Students

A&S LDT’s approach to student engagement is informed by Active Learning principles (link to the active learning page) and by the Community of Inquiry model that emphasizes the social, cognitive, and teaching presences of all members of the class community. We work alongside faculty to implement activities that engage students as scholars, teachers, and members of local and global communities. We often facilitate faculty exploration of ePortfolios as a path to engagement with the learning process. We also assist faculty to identify and use appropriate technologies to facilitate and further this engagement.

Creating Community

Intentionally foster learning communities that help students develop a sense of belonging, take risks, and be vulnerable. Building community requires people, purpose, guidelines, technologies, collaboration, and reflection.
