Writing, Programming, and Statistical Reasoning: LyX, RStudio, and R Shiny software

Enhancements to the RMarkdown website and implementation of LyX software aim to increase accessibility, clarity, equity, and success in statistical reasoning, programming, and writing across several quantitative Psychology courses.

Scientific writing remains a challenging skill to teach undergraduate and graduate students within STEM disciplines. Funding for this project will support adding new statistical reasoning query examples to the R Markdown interactive website, improved screen reader compatibility, and the incorporation of Lyx software to support scientific writing. This will benefit teaching and learning experiences in quantitative courses PSYC 3006 and PSYC 7720 (required), as well as PSYC 5500 and 5720. Aspects of this project will also help support application for an NSF grant to improve undergraduate STEM education.
