Integrating Active Learning into large Psychology lecture courses
Grant funding will support the redesign of three large 2000-level lecture courses to incorporate an active learning approach, and establish a department-wide template for transitioning other introductory courses towards this model.
We will maintain and expand the active learning model already established for PSYC2200 (Neural Basis of Behavior) and PSYC215 (Intro to Cognition), as they scale up to more sections. New active learning elements will also be incorporated into PSYC2700 (Child Psychology). These examples will be showcased in a dedicated departmental webpage. This project expects to positively impact the learning and performance of approximately 1000 students by increasing their motivation and engagement with the courses.
