Exploring (more of) your Genome
Funding of 23andMe testing for students in the Exploring your Genome course, to use as data for class analysis.
This project would allow students enrolled in the popular Exploring Your Genome course to acquire 23andMe kits for their own DNA testing. Deidentified genetic data from the class participants would then be used for analysis of single gene and complex traits in a sample population. This approach aims to increase enthusiasm and interest in the class projects while demonstrating the strengths and limitations of using genome information in medicine. The project would also provide wages for a graduate teaching assistant.
