“AI as a guest and partner in the Spanish classroom” is the name of the project that will satisfy the need of Spanish native speakers to interact with in formal and informal contexts at the level of SPAN 2020. I am going to design AI discussion partners for my students, so they will be able to have short conversations about academic topics, such as, environmental or migration issues, but also, everyday topics, like hobbies, food or music. These conversations will not be graded. The project is going to start with three meetings per semester. However, the plan is having them every two weeks.

The goals are to improve the students’ confidence when speaking the target language, their self motivation, and their interest in the Hispanic world using an engaging and novel tool.
