Pedagogical Portals: Platforms To Support Community-Engaged Classrooms

The Writing and Rhetoric Program has secured funding to embed community-engaged pedagogies into some first-year writing ENWR courses required for first-year students, and to investigate the viability of embedding community-engaged pedagogies in all such classes in the future. As part of this work, we propose to build a digital portal which will support pedagogical practices common to such classrooms (community mapping, digital/print publications, community partnerships) as well as consolidate existing platforms (newsletters, digital publications, curated databases of scholarship, etc.). The site will also feature outstanding examples of course syllabi, assignments, and community/student reflections. This unique and unprecedented resource will be a resource for teachers nationwide.
