Website Options for Faculty

#1 Through your department

If you don't need a whole site, but instead just a few pages, it might make more sense to host it on your existing department's web site. This is the easiest option as the site already exists.

#2 Via OpenScholar

If you need a site for your research, center, or other UVA Arts & Sciences-affiliated group, consider building it with A&S OpenScholar. It gives you a bit more creative freedom, within clear bounds.

A&S OpenScholar would be a good fit for any site that doesn't need bespoke branding or styles. You get a choice of six easy-to-use templates to fill in.

#3 CACS

Custom Application & Consulting Services (CACS) at UVA can build a site for you from scratch. This is a good option if you want to maintain UVA branding and look, and have funding for your site.

#4 UVACreate

UVACreate gives you the most control of the options, but also requires the most work. This is a good option for those who are comfortable with all aspects of web design, or those who are working with a website vendor.
