Marie Leake
Bio
Marie Leake is the Accessibility Specialist for the College of Arts & Sciences, supporting faculty and staff in designing accessible learning environments and removing barriers to participation. In this inaugural role, Marie leads digital accessibility implementation, provides consultation and training on accessible course design, and supports accessible event planning and assistive technology platforms across the College. She also collaborates closely with faculty, college leadership, the Learning Design & Technology (LDT) team, and other institutional partners to embed accessibility into college-wide culture and workflows.
Before joining Arts & Sciences, Marie served as a Digital Accessibility Specialist at UVA’s Darden School of Business. Her work prior to Darden focused on improving teacher practice related to supporting students with disabilities and creating accessible course content.
Marie earned her Ph.D. in Education from the University of Virginia. Her scholarship centers on disability-inclusive pedagogy, faculty capacity-building, and accessible digital learning environments. She is passionate about helping the Arts & Sciences community upskill in digital accessibility to create a more inclusive, user-friendly learning experience for all.
