Video Editing Suggestions

  1. Create your lecture materials in ways that require little or no editing

    1. Use VoiceThread (available in Canvas), to record your lecture slide by slide. If you make a mistake, you can delete a slide, rather than have to edit or re-record a video.

    2. Record short (5-10 minute) videos, and don’t worry about editing out small glitches or mistakes.

  2. Practice! Create a short practice video well in advance of teaching, trying out any tools, equipment, etc you might use in your lectures.

  3. Here is a list of free available editing tools:

    1. iMovie - available on Mac OS computers or iOS devices - Guide

    2. OpenShot - free editing software that can be downloaded for Mac or Windows - Guide

    3. Media Gallery (Kaltura) - you can upload video files to Media Gallery and edit them there, even if you did not record the video using Kaltura Personal Capture.
