Chemistry Curriculum Redesign

Learning Design & Technology partnered with the Chemistry department to re- design Introductory Chemistry with one lecture and one problem-based component, called an “Expo”. The problem-based component is designed with authentic activities, which are taught in an active learning space of 99 for student engagement. A critical component to the sustainability of the course re-design was the inclusion of the department’s faculty from the outset of the design. This course has been scaled up and is being implemented in approximately half of all chemistry courses being taught.
